Hello,
it is great to review your trip. I traveled from Seattle to Tierra del Fuego in 1992. To anybody considering a similar trip, just go. You will have plenty of time to work out the details reroute. The only things that are certain; you will get stuck, those roads on the map don’t exist and you will meet people that will change you forever. Just keep reminding yourself, every crisis is an opportunity and it will make a good story.
Cheers

Read your site after seeing your silkroute comments. Laughed out way too loudly reading your description of Australia, and then lauged even more as we've stayed in Byron Bay many years ago.

Love your writing style, and love the details on your site. I hope we cross paths sometime!

Merv and Sarah

I'm going to make this same trip with TrekAmericas [www.adventuretrek.com] and will send you any updates I can find. Leaving in July...

Reply: Have fun! Though: with these guided RV tours and only 120 days for the trip I doubt that you'll find much time to send many emails...

Thanks for the site. It really is good to hear from folks who have actually done the traveling you've done. A long time ago, my wife and I had hoped to do the same, but there were passport problems, so we stayed in Mexico for five months and then returned to the States. Now, we want to head out again, but even Mexico sounds scary, given what we read in the papers. Thanks for bringing reality back into sight.

Reply: We both believe that particularly the US-American press is centered around fostering fear and suspicion. Personally I believe that traveling in Mexico is still a safe option, no more dangerous than venturing into any US city (like Atlanta - just compare the crime rates)!
The sensational violence happens mostly inside a tight group drug-related people and officials, with whom you would not come into contact unless you behave really stupidly (same as you would stay clear of crack or meth gangs in the US)...

You don't know what you're missing!

Hi

Ja, ich hab' angefangen die Reiseberichte zu lesen. Tolle Erfahrungen, die man da macht.
Bin selbst vor langer Zeit an den Iguaçu Fällen gestanden und muss das mit den Tränen bestätigen.

Nice stories and wondeful ecperiances. I remember standing at the Iguaçu Falls almost crying myself.

Thank you for creating this log/site. It's always fun to read about other people's adventures and lifestyles. It's invaluable to have the information to destinations we will visit.

We are in 5th year of a tour of the Americas. Now in Panama City awaiting ship passage to Columbia. Final destination is Tierra Fuego, Chile.

And then wink ...we will plan another adventure!

Happy travels!

Lesley and Uli
