Interesting Travel Pages To Explore
unfortunately we have found and used mostly German language reports. If you know of any good resouce site (particularly in English!) missing from this list then please submit it through our guestbook! We would like to expand this section ;)
Auf Abwegen: [returned in June 07, also driving a Ford F250 Diesel, but with a German camper]: my favorite page! A good lay-out, fantastic photos, and nicely written reports make this an entertaining site. We feel some "Seelenverwandt- schaft" with Sabine and Michael, who started their trip around the time we were making more concrete plans.
El Viaje: [finished in December 2005 with their Ford F 250 and Lance Camper]: Simone and Frank were only a few months on the road when our idea was born... Their journal gave us numerous ideas and good information - unfortunately the last entries stalled somewhere in South America - still a worthwhile resource up to then.
Ester und Petr: [travelled the Panamericana in a Landrover Defender in 2003-05]: a wealth of information, very detailled! Despite several years old still worth researching!
Carma Doenitz: [Panamericana in a Toyota HZJ75 Landcruiser 04/05]: I had fun reading their reports, and still refer to their very detailled <info> page...
Mankei Travel: [Alaska to Panama in a Volkswagen LT4×4 Camper, which broke down, then back in South America with a new Mercedes truck, now back home]: quite a bit of information, though a little hard to find some things (navigation).
Sloth Tour: [around the world in a Toyota HZJ75 Landcruiser]: "Gut Zu Wissen" contains exactly that, plus their reports and photos are quite funny...
Panam 2006: [Central- & South-America in a Mercedes UNIMOG, returned in June 07] a well travelled English couple. I haven't had the chance to really check out this extensive site, but there's lots of good stuff!
Pan Mundo: [World Tour in a Toyota Landcruiser] nice layout, interesting and amusing articles written in ENGLISH and German!
Central & South America Journals: [Americans 2005 in a Mitsubishi FUSO Truck] I haven't studied this site in-depth, but there are some interesting reports, and lists (w. GPS locations) of their camping sites...!
Live Your Dreams: [from South- to North America in a Landrover] a Dutch and German couple we have just missed in Guatemala. The web site, which is well worth the read, is written in German and English.
pinguino-tour.de: [from North- to South America in a Landrover] nice German page with detailed reports and a fair bit of extra information. Thanks for the great camping list :-)
Southbound Explorers: [travelling from BC/Canada to South-America in a VW Westfalia Van] We don't know if we will meet Ashley and Moreno since in Colombia they decided to take the East route through Venezuala, the Guyanas, and Brazil...
People we have met during our trip - THANKS for your helpful advice:
Maja and Inga: [travelling in "Schnecke" (= Snail), a red Nissan 4x4 w. fibreglass cabin] Maja and Inga cut almost all ties with Germany, bought a camper and went travelling. Their goal is to migrate to South Australia, hopefully next year. We love them and will try to travel in direction Iguazu Falls together.
Terra Globe: [travelling in an old Mercedes LA 911 Police 4x4 truck - looks big, but is actually a little smaller than our truck] Jürgen, Petra and Laila are travelling in South America for a year - we would like to meet them again...
Travelin Tortuga: [travelling in a Chevrolet 3500 Duramax 4x4 Tiger] Kathy and Rick are on the road for the long term. After extensive email contact we finally met up in Cuenca/Ecuador, before our ways seperated again. next meeting?
Yak On Tour: [from North- to South-America in Landrover Defender] we met Esther and Peter in Quito in a guesthouse and spent several nice days together. Our paths might cross again since we are travelling in the same direction.
Vulpes Vulpes: [from South- to North-America in Chevy Truck w. Lance Camper] we met Bruni and Norbert (the foxes) in Costa Rica. They went "full time" in their later years (may I say so?) - detailed reports and list of camping places - their second site covers US, Canada, and parts of Mexico.
Meeting Our Neighbors: a quick dash from South Carolina/USA to Panama and back. What Adam and his "Popsi" can't achieve in time they sure make up for in enthusiasm...
Benzi.is: [North & Central America in a large Mercedes Benz 4×4 camper truck] we met Guðný and Kristján from Iceland at Lake Atitlan in Guatemala - and there was straight away a "connection" - unfortunately they have decided to go back home... Kristján is a professional photographer who's not shy to share some of his knowledge on their blog (in English and Icelandic).
Pages Turning: [Central- & South-America in a TOYOTA 4Runner and a tent] we met Sheila and Chris from England (now living in Vancouver) in Pátzcuaro in Mexico on their way back home. THANKS for your time and great energy!
Thyme Off: [Central- & South-America in an 87 VW Westfalia Van] earlier we had met Sharon and Gerry also in Pátzcuaro on their way back to Canada. Visit their extensive blog for some interesting (and also heartbreaking) reports...
Landytracks: [globetrotters in a Landrover]: Bärbel & Bernd maintain an extensive site reporting about their various journeys through Africa and South- & North-America.
Chazel: [South- & Central-America in a FIAT Ducato Camper] we met this French couple at the Everglades in Florida - they are back on the road from Australia through Asia in their new TOYOTA Landcruiser.
