The first time we entered Yellowstone Park from the south-west, West Yellowstone, and drove a reverse S up to Mammoth Springs (south of Gardiner), and then out along the Interstate 90, because bad weather had closed some roads. On our second trip we came in along the Beartooth Highway [Hwy 212], an amazing drive along snow-capped ridges, and entered the park from the north-east, went as far as the Petrified Tree, and then south to Fishing Bridge, from where we left the park on route to Cody to the east.
