The route we picked along the Skyline Drive and Blue Ridge Highway happened by pure chance: Juergen was sitting near Lancaster studying the map, and noticed this road winding through National Park and National Forest, and he thought it might be a nice, interesting drive... Only afterwards did we find in our "Lonely Planet" and in "Road Trip USA" more detailed descriptions. "Road Trip USA" calls the Blue Ridge Parkway "one of the country's great scenic drives".
